. . . and now it's time for some R&R."

Hello and welcome to the site that finally susses out the quixotic homme d'heure Jeffrey Lael Simmons, aka Little Bobby Sumpner, (Janitor of the Blues), doing business in Canada as Robert Sumpner Jr., Blues Janitor. A brief stint with the Canadien power trio Neckbrace as Junior Turlock, yielded the now seminal sessions for Turlock's nightBeat group The Shimmering Guitars . Their Carnaby-based easy listening sound came to him in a dream in one of Vancouver's oldest waterfront hotels. It pre-dates the pseudo bachelor-pad revivalists and the current leisure suit and cheese club celebrations of today's disenchanted British soccer hooligans by ten years!

Originally formed in 1986 as the Kon-Tiki's, their Shadows-based, Hank Marvin-worshipping sound a la king has delighted british queens and punters alike. Now calling himself Jet Sims, and the band re-named The Shimmering Guitars, Jeff revels in his easy listening career as much as every single one of the previous incarnations he has enjoyed.

Enlisting in Frank's Brilliant Idea at the time proved to be a succulent fish taco and a spray of cerveza to the burger and shake crowd of the late 60's. Always looking forward, Mr. Simmons now relishes the opportunity to share his musical bounty with a global audience.

Mr. Simmons was indeed the bass player and rhythm guitarist for the Mothers from 1971-1973. He can be found on the albums: Chunga's Revenge, Roxy and Elsewhere, Hot Rats (Waka Jawaka) as well as his own album on Reprise Records Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up. You can also find "Lucille" on the Straight/Bizarre sampler Zapped.
